Most newborn photographers won’t take on babies over 2 weeks of age because it is harder to put them to sleep. For lifestyle photography sessions, that is not the main goal, so I photograph newborns up until about 8-weeks-old and get amazing images either way. After about 8 weeks, I just consider it a baby milestone photography session because those babies just aren’t as tiny as the younger ones but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be photographed!
This family contacted me when Johan was already over a month old but I had an opening so I was happy to help! Honestly, he slept like a dream and was comparable to my younger newborns in his ability to settle. I got lots of awake and alert images of him looking at the camera and yawning and stretching. He was seriously great to photograph and I’m so glad I could help this family out even though they missed the traditional cut-off for newborn photography.
